Description: This Mitred Box Co. 13" Boy doll certainly falls into the Hard to Find category. circa 1912His head is made of composition by the American Company who produced dolls in New York from 1911-1917 This doll is unmarked but can be found on page 322 of "Collector's Encyclopedia of American Composition Dolls" by Ursula Mertz. This doll has a seam at the neck with a wood socket which is a trademark of this companies dolls. They only made 4 or 5 models and this one is well documented. All of the dolls made by this company were copies of popular German made dolls. This boy doll is a copy of a Celluloid Turtle Mark doll by either Rheinische Gummi und Celluloid-Fabrik (Rhenania Rubber and Celluloid Factory) or Schildkrot (Schildkroet Puppen) There is some paint loss and crazing to the hair and face and throughout the doll.His composition body is in overall good condition with shoulder joints, slanted hip joints and molded shoes which I think identify him as a boy, the girl dolls I've seen have the same body but a Mary Jane style shoe and smooth sock (usually pink).This body is highly detailed with modeling of fat rolls on legs and details on chest for expampleHe comes ready for you to dress.Doll Stand is not included.
