Made in northern France - Creil Commune, Department Oise. Made sometime between 1887 and 1920 In the popular black and white toile motif, featuring the 4 main characters from a very popular French 19th century Comic Opera, “Les cloches de Corneville” (English: “The Bells of Corneville” / “The Chimes of Normandy”) an opéra-comique in three acts, composed by Robert Planquette to a libretto by Louis Clairville and Charles Gabet. Plate number “8” of the series. No chips, cracks or stains. There are black marks under the glaze when the plate was painted. Kiln stand marks. Clean and neat! 8 inches diameter. 10 oz.
