Description: This is one of two Dutch genre oil paintings I have listed for sale. Both came from a wonderful Connecticut estate. They both measure approximately: Framed- 17 3/4” x 15 1/4” Unframed- 9 3/4” x 8 1/2” The painting is on some type of metal, potentially tin or copper. The scene captures a man courting a woman of the period, sharing a drink. The man looks at the bottle as if to ask “if there’s enough,” with his glass empty while the woman’s is full. The rival expressions and warm colors make the piece. The mystery around this piece is when was it painted and by whom. It could be 1800’s era or far earlier. The quality of the painting- figures, hands, etc- all speak of someone with exceptional talent. The rear of the painting dust cover has some notes from the family they came from- Pulford and De Los Schuyler. As impressive as the painting is, the framing equals such with deep coved walnut and gilded interior. Together it makes for beautiful presentation, ready to display immediately. I hope these find a wonderful home. I will do a package deal if anyone is interested in the other painting posted in my items.
