Description: This antique compote is a beautiful piece of early American flint glassware. The clear glass has a delicate petal and loop pattern, adding a touch of elegance to any table setting. Measures 9 inches tall and 11 inches in diameter. It was handcrafted in the United States circa 1840 and is part of the Early American pattern glass/EAPC glass. It is in excellent condition. Does have some shear marks aka “straw marks” on the pedestal and at the center of the bowl. There’s a tiny speck of something that fused with the glass during production and a few bubbles in the glass. All are production blemishes and not flaws. No chip’s and no cracks. Found on web to better explain “shear marks” ⬇️ ***“straw marks," which are more accurately called "shear marks," are often found in early American pattern glass (EAPG), as they were a result of the manufacturing process where the molten glass was cut off with shears before being placed in the mold, leaving a visible mark on the glass, particularly noticeable in areas with large plain sections of the pattern. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.
