Description: Elegant large matched pair of Hallmarked English Sterling silver and cut glass scent or perfume bottles in the Victorian style. Made of thick faceted glass with Sterling Silver lids featuring a lovely repousse floral design around a blank cartouche. The pieces include their original faceted glass stoppers. The bottles feature marks on both the collars and lids indicating that they were made in Birmingham in 1903 by the firm of William Hutton & Sons Ltd. Although true antiques at 121 years old, these pieces are in very good overall condition. There are a couple of small chips to the base of each bottle and to each of the stoppers, as well as to the glass rim of one of them. The cut glass surface itself is in fine shape, showing minor wear consistent with age and use. The Sterling silver lids of the bottles fit snuggly into their mounts - one is quite easy to remove and replace, while the other takes a little effort. The highly decorative floral lids have some denting/rippling in the middle of the blank cartouches, as well as a couple of pin pricks. In spite of these minor imperfections, the overall impression is of enduring beauty and quality. Both lovely and useful, these scent bottles would add old world style and sophistication to your dressing area or be a nice addition to any collection. Please note that I also have a cut glass vanity jar available with a Sterling lid in the same pattern.
