Description: Matched pair of hand-painted floral mantle garniture in the form of ewers. These are decorative only, as spout is not functional (no opening to body). Gold-tone metal bits are either painted pot metal or brass (not sure - sorry). Body is painted with a muddy green shoulder, tan tapering point, and pink and burgundy roses. Hallmarks: No maker's mark. Under one foot of each piece, raised letters "IVIV" or "IVIX" Possibly, this means 1944 or 1949? Approximate age: Style is clearly Victorian c. 1900. As previously mentioned, these MAY date from the 1940's. Dimensions: 18” tall x 5" widest body diameter. From spout to handle, depth is 7". Ceramic body is 9" tall. Footed base measures approx. 4.5' square. Condition: Excellent giftable condition. Mentionable issues: paint erosion on china body shoulders (from dusting over the years). Patina is oxidized and as found, appropriate and commiserate with age and use. China body is in excellent condition, without chips, cracks, hairlines, crazing, or discoloration. Metal portions are evenly patinated and free from bends, dents, bashes, corrosion, or other structural issues. Combined unpacked weight: 4 lbs. 6 oz. Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping. I only charge actual postage, and always use recycled packing materials. Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all possible angles. On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views. I gladly accept returns, but please note I do not pay return postage unless there was a significant error in my description. The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge. All dimensions and weights approximate. If you have a question or an assumption on an item prior to purchase, please ask. I much prefer to take the time on the front end to make sure you will be satisfied with your purchase. Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.
