Description: Antique French carriage clock made at the end of the 19th century by Richard et Cie and with S.N. 748. Offered in good working order and keeping good time to within a minute or two per week. Includes winding key. This grand sonnerie, 8 day clock chimes the quarter hours on two coiled gongs. Under the case there is a lever with three settings to select the chime with a choice of quarters (petite sonnerie), silent or quarters & hour (grande sonnerie) - all working correctly. The clock is running strongly and keeping good time from a later platform escapement. The chimes function correctly and there is also a repeat button which will cause the clock to strike the last hour before chiming the last quarter. Occasionally the clock mis-strikes the hour by one count. The gilt brass case is of gorge shape with some wear to the original finish and damage to the front right corner whilst the porcelain dial is very good save a hairline across the second quadrant. Glasses all good save a small chip to the top lenticle and several small chips to the pane in the back. Weighs 2.2kg before wrapping. Stands 7.25" (18.5cm) high, 3.75" (9.5cm) wide and 3.25" (8.5cm) deep. Offered for sale BUY IT NOW... Please have a good look at the pictures and message me should you require more information.
