Description: Up for sale is this antique French Neo-Greco / Roman solid cast bronze tazza tray plate / elevated stand with incredible relief of robed figures both male and female going about daily life during ancient times. We see horses and cattle being led, ducks and geese, crops and grains, nude men, and trees in the background. There is a part of this scene that has some homoerotic, sexually-suggestive undertones with the young male riding the cattle as he stares back at the older gentleman. Done by Ferdinand Levillain (1837-1905) and cast by the famous, Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892). Signed on top F LEVILLAIN and underneath BARBEDIENNE. This piece was done in France circa 1860s or 1870s. Slight bend to the lip in one area but otherwise in excellent condition. No cracks, chips, losses, and surface is beautifully patinated from age. Bottom has an old sticker from the antique store it was purchased from 30 years ago. Measures 10.3” inches in diameter and 3.2” inches high (26.2 cm, 8.1 cm). Would make a fantastic display piece, fine addition to a collection, or a great gift!
