Description: This is an amazing piece of history. It has some age and seen some things for sure. The top feather a beautiful hand painted portrait The exterior is a metal with a gold guilting Opening the top hinged lid reveals a mirror(that has very much aged and is no longer usable). It is lined in gas that has no breaks. Their the box upside down and you will find a wood base marked FRANCE and the key to activate the music box that is housed in the base of the box. The music does play but I am not sure of the tune and I think it may be playing slightly faster than it should be. There is no way to access the mechanism unfortunately. I did lubricate it thought the small hole which did make it play smoother but now a bit faster that mostly likely intended. A video is included in part of the photos.
