It has a stunning and very colorful finely hand painted border on the lid, tureen and the plate, all made in the same design with a lovely Arabesque pattern featuring scrolls and little kitchen wall console scenes with a urn, fruits and flowers. The border has a pale yellow background and the set has lots of hand painted gold gilding. The painted design has some raised white enamel detailing, which makings it even more vibrant. The tureen has a very interesting scalloped edge with a folded over the edge design.The tureen and plate have a Sèvres type crossed L mark. It was made in the late 19th century, in France. Beautiful piece for formal dinners or to display in a cabinet or as a centerpiece. The plate and tureen display very nicely as separate pieces as well.Dimensions:Diameter tureen: about 9 inch / 23 cmDiameter plate: about 10 1/4 inch / 26 cmCondition: Good antique condition.
