Description: Antique German Austro Prussian War Military Officer Portrait Cavalry Watercolor Available is this very rare portrait from the 1866 Austro Prussian - Seven Weeks War. It is a combination print, photograph and hand colored image and measures 15 7/8 by 12.5 inches. The background image, horse and man are printed, with watercolor overpaint on the horse and officer uniform, sky backgrounds etc. The officers face is a photograph which has been cut out and pasted on. The bottom text is hand written and hard to read. 2nd Pomeranian Hussar Regiment? The bottom reads “4 te eskad des pammereschen man regiments no 9 demnun”. Google translates as - "4th squadron of the Pammerese man regiment no. 9". The officer is named, and the image is from the town of Demmin, in Germany. Note that there is extensive foxing, darkening to the page, some creasing and loss at the corner, etc. The back has an embossed label which reads “Emil Spaeter Photograph Demmin”. Note this is dated 1866, but in the category for 1860 as there doesn't seem to be one that covers this time period. Sold AS IS!
