Description: Really very darling. A solid piece of 800 silver made in Germany probably Hanau circa 1890-1900. The unique holder was probably originally for a fitted perfume or cigarettes and probably made of colored glass. The reticulations or cut-outs would have allowed the color of the glass to peek through. It is lavishly decorated with playful cherubs in a garden setting and features scenes all around. On one side frolicking cherubs swing a rose garland in front of an urn flowers on a column and a detailed leafy tree. On the other side, a chubby cherub is crowning another with a wreath of flowers with a house in the background. On the side there are 2 additional cherubs, one is presenting a bouquet of flowers to the newly crowned cherub queen. Bottom is impressed with 800 (the German standard for sterling), the crescent moon and crown symbols as well as model number. Totally charming and full of whimsy. Use it on your dresser table to hold small makeup brushes or Q-tips, or it can hold cigarettes or a small bouquet of dried flowers.HAPPY TO COMBINE SHIPPING
