Description: DESCRIPTION: This quilt was made by my grandmother around 1925 for my mother. Grandma used fabric leftover from my mother's clothes which she also made. Grandma was an expert seamstress. These quilts were made during hard times when every bit of fabric was saved, nothing went to waste. There's beautiful hand work, binding is pinned, except for a small area with feather-stitch embroidery so it needs to be finished. It's backed with plain white cotton, with some kind of thin filler between the top and backing. There are 28 whole flowers, with 8 half flowers. Maybe one or two duplicate fabric patterns. There are over 2000 (TWO THOUSAND!) individual hexagons making up this quilt!DATE: 1920s MAKER: Myra Elizabeth Locke SIZE: 82" x 48"CONDITION: Overall in FINE, pre-owned, unfinished condition.
