Description: I have a very nice Disston & Sons finishing saw for sale. This saw has been cleaned up and needs a sharpen.... it could be cleaned up more with a good polish compound. The handle is in good condition with good horns and no cracks, the top horn has been re shaped a long time ago. The nuts are all original and hold correctly. The medallion is early and readable. The steel is in pretty good for its age with some wear and a few spots of pitting. It has the very bottom of the tipple present, but it has long gone. These are great older saws that will take a good edge... they are harder to find in good condition... I don't see a stamp plate, however the nut pattern and rounded back makes it pretty old. My guess is it is a number 12 based on the 4 nut pattern, light wood handle and wheat handle design. This info was from the Disston institute, an online information site.. The stamp is long gone , so I can't tell you the number sorry, 12 is my opinion.. I have added a picture of my personal 12 along side this saw.. they look the same to me, but maybe different years. The 12 is a great saw, a high end saw marked English Spring Steel, they are awesome to work with. This saw needs a sharpen and is a little uneven when you sit the saw on a flat surface. You may want to take the time when sharpening to improve this and make it more flat. Thank you for looking. I have other tools for sale in my Ebay store (Manning Antique and Vintage Tools) and can often combine shipping to keep shipping cost lower. Thank you. NOTE: Your saw will arrive with the price of the shipment from USPS, you will be refunded any overpayment.
