Description: ~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ AMAZING ~ this stunning fabric is a very old bolt of unused homespun hemp from Europe ~ I wouldn't be surprised to find that this wonderful fabric dates from the late 1700's, however it would only be an educated guess, ~ certainly this unused bolt dates from the early 1800's . The tone of this beautiful fabric is a dark dark, nutty , warm tone ~ ~ just about as dark in tone as they get! This fabric was hand woven using a very raw dark hemp~ the bolt has some of the most beautiful tonal variations I have ever seen on these fabrics ~ this fabric is currently quilt coarse. This fabric will soften with repeated washing, however as it is the texture is coarse, pliable and just gorgeous! I wouldn't want to upholster with this fabric in current condition as it wouldn't be comfortable, however this fabric would make a show stopper of a table runner, stunning decorative pillows, dramatic window treatment or just wonderful elevated to art status and displayed as it ~Very very wide for these textiles~ ~ ~*~ Measurements: This beautiful bolt measures 4 yards long by 26.5 inches wide. CONDITION: This length is freshly laundered! ~ Lovely condition indeed ~*~ Some pale storage marks. Each end is finished with a hand stitched hem~ A GORGEOUS and rare find ~*~ ~Please see my store page “ About Hand-woven, Homespun Yardage” for more information on these wonderful textiles ~ This would make amazing heirloom projects! ~*~ it is another wonderful textile treasure~*~ This linen is just beautiful when seamed for larger projects~ if you require larger amounts of linen please email me as my backstock is vast and I can almost always match much larger quantities for large projects~*~ ~*~* *~* ~*~You will never have to pay any Customs or Duty charges on my textiles posted to an address within the United States, as I have already imported all of my European textiles and have paid any fees for you~*~ My shipping is always fast, so you can expect your purchase to arrive between 1-3 days after payment within the USA~*~ ~*~This wonderful fabric has so many uses:STUNNING table runners~*~Upholstery, bedding, cushions, curtains, clothing, Roman Blinds, bags, ~ so many wonderful sewing projects~*~ ~*~The woman weavers of yesterday would spend their evenings weaving these amazing rolls of linen. It took the average woman 1 night to weave 60 centimeters ( 24 inches) of linen ~*~ These rolls are 100% machine washable, warm..if there is visible dirt, just add a bit of Oxywash! They are so easy to wash, simply spin dry then remove when wet. Roll the linen tightly and let sit overnight. In the morning unroll and allow to dry naturally~ this presses the linen and there is usually no need to iron ( unless you prefer it perfect). They can be dried in a dryer also! If drying in the dryer, just be sure that the roll isn't getting tangled up on itself in the dryer! ~ I like to add Downy Ultra to my last rinse cycle for an added touch of softness~ Pure linen or hemp rolls tend to have no shrinkage, the rolls with cotton tend to have some shrinkage . These rolls are tough and sturdy, built to last.....and last and last!! ~ The average age of these rolls is about 100 years old, they are wonderful textile treasures~*~ Hemp is built to last for many many generations making it a lovely textile for creating family heirlooms~*~ All of my linen rolls are produced using natural fibers. Natural fibers have the irregularities and subtleties that are inherent ...adding to their rustic charm~*~ These rolls are increasingly difficult to find as they have been used so extensively over the past 20 years. This is a wonderful opportunity to own your own piece of textile history~*~
