Description: Antique 18th century Indo Persian Islamic Qur'an Stand Kursi In Khatamkari Antique 18th century Indo Persian Islamic Qur'an Stand Kursi In Khatamkari Click images to enlarge Description Antique, 18th - early 19th century, Indo - Persian Islamic Qur'an stand (kursi or Rahla) of typical folding X form, made of sycamore wood, inlaid with Micro -Mosaic (Khatamkari) of colored woods, bone, and metal marquetry. Formed of two parts intersecting and hinged together, the upper part decorated on both sides with six-pointed star - Seal of Solomon - Khātim Sulaymāni خاتم_سليمان, the lower half carved in openwork with a palmette motif, profusely decorated with geometric motifs and is roughly painted with “V” pattern on the inner surface. REFERENCES: Please note that this is not a common Qur'an stand, such as most other Qur'an stands, but is of museum quality and considered as an Islamic artwork. A related Khatamkari Quran stands to this one can be found on display in the world's leading museums, Victoria and Albert Museum London England and in The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Bost.
