ANTIQUE J. B. OWENS ART POTTERY STANDARD GLAZE "UTOPIAN" PILLOW VASE, c. 1900

Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a nice J. B. Owens Art Pottery Standard Glaze "Utopian" small vase decorated with flowers, c. late 1800's-early 1900's. Measures 4 1/4" high, 6" wide and 2 1/4" deep. Beautiful design of hand painted flowers in dark orange and yellow on a dark brown background. The base is signed with incised mark "J.B. Owens, 1051, Utopian". This lovely vase is a great cabinet piece and is in good condition for its age, however, there is a tiny chip with faint hairline on the back side (see photos) and minor crazing throughout. The J. B. Owens Company operated in Jamesville, Ohio from 1891-1907. His first decorated pottery line was called "Utopia" and was a standard brown-ware with underglaze slip decoration similiar to that produced by Roseville, Weller and Rookwood's standard glaze art pottery.
