Description: Stunning hand painted Jean Pouyat Limoges jardiniere dating from the 1890s. The shoulders have elephant head handles and the body is painted in a floral design in pink, yellow and green. I believe that this jardiniere originally sat on a separate base as evidenced by a few rare photos of similar design. There are gilded highlights on the rim and the elephants. The bottom of the jardiniere is marked with the JP Limoges mark. This vase is unique as each was hand painted in unique designs by local artists. This one features a flower facing up on one side and downwards on the back.
