Description: FOR YOUR ATTENTION & CONSIDERATION: THE LARGEST AND ARGUABLY MOST BEAUTIFUL & UNUSUAL KEROSENE BANQUET LAMP ON THE AMERICAN ANTIQUE MARKET TODAY. THE MANUFACTURER IS AWAJI POTTERY OF 1880 - 1890's. THEY WERE PARTICIPANTS OF THE WORLDS FAIR OF 1874 AND 1904. THIS AMAZING LAMP IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF THE JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD CERAMIC POTTERY ART. THE DRAGON BODY IS COBALT, HIGH TEMPERATURE, IRIDESCENT GLAZE - SIMPLY STUNNING. THE LAMP's VASE WAS IMPORTED FROM JAPAN SOMETIME IN LATE 1890's, ASSEMBLED AND EQUIPPED WITH METAL PARTS AT EDWARD MILLER MANUFACTURING CO., THE CASED PINK AND GILT DRAGON SHADE WAS, AS USUAL BACK IN THE DAY, PICKED UP BY A FINE AMERICAN RETAILER, VERY LIKELY A.A.VANTINE & CO. OF N.Y. THEY WERE THE LARGEST IMPORTER-DEALER OF JAPANESE ART OBJECTS AT THAT TIME. THIS GORGEOUS LAMP IS IN A GREAT CONDITION. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE GLASS OR CERAMIC, ONLY SOME USUAL WEAR TO SURFACES CONSISTENT WITH AGE. THE KEROSENE BURNER WORKS FINE, AS YOU CAN SEE ON MY PICTURES. THE MEASUREMENTS ARE: 45 1/2" TO THE TOP OF THE GLOBE, THE METAL PAW BASE IS 11" AT THE WIDEST. THE CASED PINK GILT DRAGON SHADE IS 10 1/2" IN DIAMETER.
