Description: Antique Victorian Folding Hand Fan from the late 1800s. Ladies in the Victorian era developed a whole secret code of flirting with their fans to communicate with men. It's fascinating...look it up. What was once an exquisite large 26" wide late Victorian/Edwardian fan has seen better times. The hand painted silk has discolored, weakened and shredded in numerous places and the carved bone two end guards are split (could possibly be glued back together), however the lace though dingy is still in good shape and 15 of the 16 interior sticks are intact (one has split). The fan unfolds for display. This piece is sold AS IS for display or study or for parts. The color is fairly dingy cream.
