Description: VICTOR VI PHONOGRAPH& BASE CABINET A great example of Victor's top-of-the-line outside horn phonograph, a Model VI, known as "Victor the Sixth". This was originally priced well above what the average workingman could afford, so it mainly sold to the rich and famous. The solid mahogany cabinet with gold-plated embellishments at the top and bottom of the corner pillars, and complex base moldings. Beautiful finish with newly gold-plated adornments. The later-made mahogany spear-point horn is in excellent condition similar to that of the cabinet. This has a strong 3-spring motor, driving a 12" turntable and fitted with an excellent (recently rebuilt) Exhibition reproducer.The turntable felt has been renewed. Overall, this is a true, original, collector's piece that would be a centerpiece in any collection, large or small. THE CABINET: We commissioned a master cabinetmaker to recreate an exact copy of an original record cabinet; one specifically designed and built in the early 1900's to accommodate a Victor VI. Every detail is exactly as original, down to the gold-plated hardware, needle cups, etc. The construction, as original, is from solid mahogany. This cabinet took over two years to manufacture; it will withstand the closest scrutiny of the most discerning collectors. This is our very last remaining example as we will be unable to have a further supply in the future. BONUS: We will supply 3 tins of needles (soft, medium and loud) and a 78-rpm record together with your purchase.
