The words on the side with Mary translate from French to "I Am the Immaculate Conception, Souvenir of the Coronation 1876." Pope Pius officially granted a canonical coronation to the image of Our Lady of the Rosary. This medal refers to the coronation that was performed by Cardinal Meglia at the courtyard of what is now part of the Rosary Basilica at Lourdes n 1876. The words on the back of this medal translate to "Basilica of Our Lady of Lourdes". This item measures approx. 13/16" across and 1 1/4" tall, tested positive for silver, and has a French silver mark on the bail. This medal is very thin and very light in weight.
