Description: Antique Mechanical Ice Cream Scoop German Silver w Wood Handle Gilchrist’s No 31 This GILCHRIST’S No. 31 Automatic Ice Creamer Disher measures approximately 10½ inches long with a bowl of 2¼ inches in diameter. It is in very good antique condition with some expected age patina and wear to the wooden handle. Operates smoothly. Per research (many thanks to the Scoop Collector): The Gilchrist Co. was a maker of ice cream scoops from 1906 to 1931. The patent request for the standard Model 31 was filed in 1908 but was not issued until 1915. The bowl and scraper are made of German Silver and the concealed spring is Phosphor Bronze. The mechanism is placed far from the bowl to avoid contact with the cream. Ice cream container is for display only and is not included in the listing.
