Description: Antique American Tract Society Miniature 4 Book Children Set in Wood Box, Frost Here is a quite rare complete set of Very Little Tales for Very Little Folks! The 4 miniature books by author, S. Annie Frost, were published in 1873 by the American Tract Society. The illustrations are attributed to Elias James Whitney. The titles are:Very Little TalesFour CousinsOut WestPoppetThe books measure about 3.25" by 2.75". The four books are cloth bound in 4 different colors. Both front and back covers are embossed. The front embossing is embellished in gold and the color image of an animal in a cartouche. All covers have some discoloration. Each book has 8 illustrations. The books each have some loose pages, but I believe all pages are present. Foxing is quite minor in three of the books. The front sheets and a few pages in Poppet show more foxing. The books are presented in their original finger-jointed wooden box. The paper label on the box top is quite worn, but it originally read: Very Little Tales for Very Little FolksFour Books, 8 Pictures in Each PRICE 80 CENTS American Tract Society150 Nassau Street, New York The 4"x3"x2" box shows its age. The hinges are in place and work well. The upper piece of the clasp is missing. Both box top and bottom are cracked. The bottom has a loose section which is held in place by modern transparent tape on the inside of the box. This can be removed and the loose section reglued in place.
