I am personally a railroader but didn’t really know what this was used for, so I called my retired boss ( 51 years of service!) to get his thoughts. He tells me this could have been used for filling signal lamps, caboose clearance lamps, desk lamps, or several other lamps. The most interesting feature of this oil can is the original owner soldered or ground his name “Al Moore” on one side and the number “ 1333” on the other. Now that is railroad history!
