Antique Rookwood Arts & Crafts Footed Bulb Low Bowl "XVI" 1916 #1878 Matte Mauve

Description: Featured in this auction is an antique, miniature Rookwood Pottery footed bulb bowl or low bowl. This piece has a round, squat shape with three raised feet. This bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing, and no repairs. There are, however, tiny glaze rubs and some stray marks (many visible at the top rim edge) from gentle use. This little cabinet gem is only 1-1/2" tall, 6" wide at the shoulder, and 5" wide at the top rim. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 1878 and the production year XVI (1916). This mini bulb bowl has three tiny raised feet with stilt marks visible on the base. This beautiful glaze is a rich, matte mauve or mulberry drip underglaze with a green overspray that has curdled beautifully on the piece. The bowl is very clean both inside and has been gently used.
