Description: Antique Rose Plate with Gold Gilding William Guérin Limoges France 1900's Hand Painted Cabinet Plate - Luncheon Plate Salad / Dessert Plate This Beautiful William Guérin Limoges hand painted plate is simply gorgeous! It features the softest feminine and most romantic, pink roses nestled in lush greenery and elegantly framed with a radiant gold gilded border. Without exception, this hand painted, French beauty is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or missing paint. This is an Antique Plate and has production flaws of the times, which on this plate seem to have been covered by the Gold Gilding. It is in Original Condition as acquired at an Estate Auction in New Hampshire. It measures 6-7/8 inches in diameter and on the reverse side of the plate is the William Guérin - W G Co. Limoges hallmark used between the 1891 and 1932. A variation of this often-seen back stamp was in use between 1891 and 1932 by the Limoges France - based William Guérin Company, which reportedly succeeded the Utzschneider porcelain factory. William Guerin (1838-1912) had worked at Utzschneider in the 1870s before becoming the factory's owner at an unspecified date. Mark shown is that of white ware factory referenced by dealers and collectors as Guérin used circa 1891-1932. This is often referenced as Mark 3 by dealers, as found in The Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain. This manufacturing company used a number of different marks beginning in 1870, including similar scroll marks without Limoges and France. One variation used from the late 1890s-1932 spelled out Wm.
