Description: We recently binged a bit on antique porcelain plate sets from an anonymous Beverly Hills/Hollywood estate, and these were among the ones we fell in love with. The set of 10 elegant dessert or salad plates were created in 1880 by Royal Worcester (The Worcester Royal Porcelain Co), and have both signature of plate decorator and the numbers on backs, along with the underglaze marks noting they were specially made for distribution in Boston at "Richard Briggs", a purveyor of luxury goods, primarily china/porcelain. The plates are works of art, really, with raised bas relief shell pattern over scalloped border filled in with delicately hand painted florals. A personalized monogram centers each. The top color glaze is a creamy color that works well with many colors of under plates. I've always loved mix-match tables with complimenting plates in layers and you can see in our final photo, these compliment several of our current sets (all sold separately). Full measurements noted on photos. Very good to excellent condition for age and type. I don't find a single chip or nip, no hairlines or cracks. There is a little crazing to the surface glaze one can see at certain angles of light (see images), but really, you've got to go looking for it. They display beautifully, and, at 143 years of age, are quite remarkable. The monogram appears to be F A P.
