Description: Good condition for its age. The silver is tarnished and needs cleaning. The edges of the silver piece are folded over to fit the wooden block. The painted figure of Mary (painted red lips tell that it is probably not Jesus) on the inner wood block needs cleaning as well. I will not attempt to clean because I do not have the expertise to do so. The head and hands show thru the holes in the silver showing the painted figure on the wood behind. The icon measures approx. 2-7/8" x 3-1/2".the wooden block is approx. 1/2" thick. There were a couple of notes included with the icon that appear to be translations of the language encased into the icon. They are in Russian but translated to in English say "I am the Light of the World" on the book and "God (or The Lord) all powerful" on the bottom. The nails along the top edge have worked themselves out so they no longer hold the icon in place and there are 2 small holes on the bottom edge are missing. There are also 2 very small holes, one on either side edge. Please ask any questions you may have and I will be happy to answer as best I can.
