Antique Seth Thomas Adamantine Mantle Or Bookcase Clock ~ Serviced & Running

Description: Antique Seth Thomas Adamantine Mantle Or Bookcase Clock ~ Serviced & Running Click images to enlarge Description Click here to see the other working clocks in our eBay store! This is another nice condition "Adamantine" finish 8 day time and strike mantle clock made by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. in Thomaston, Connecticut during the early 1900's. This clock features the original signed Seth Thomas #89 series movement, which has been cleaned and serviced, and is in good running condition, keeping time and striking properly, counting the hour, i.e. 1 gong at 1:00, 2 gongs at 2:00, etc., on an antique cathedral gong, and announcing the half hour with a single toll. It is a quality movement that, if properly maintained, should last many lifetimes. This clock is in the dark brown adamantine that was probably meant to simulate walnut, or perhaps brown marble. The "Adamantine" finish, which is a patented laminate finish from the late 1800's, is in very nice shape for its age. You may notice a little shrinkage at the corners and edges, and some cracking here and there, with minor dings, and scuffs, which is the nature of the Adamantine finish. It is a thin laminate over soft wood and so shrinks, cracks and dents fairly easily with just normal use over time. There is a minor dent in the top that can be seen in the picture. The measurements are 9 ¼" wide x 9 ½" high x 6" deep. The dial and bezel assembly is in nice condition. The silvered dial has nice age shading/staining as can be seen in the pictures, giving it a genuine aged/antique appearance. This clock comes complete with the key and the original pendulum, and is ready to place up on the mantle and enjoy. Payment If your payment needs to be delayed, that will be fine as long as you stay in close contact with us and send it when you say you're going to. We accept Paypal, plus others. Any payment that requires time to process (clear) will delay shipping. Email us with questions concerning other forms of payment. Shipping Most clocks will be shipped within 5 business days of received payment. We like to give each clock sold a final test run and observation before packing. This helps ensure that the new owner will have a satisfying experience. All items are carefully packaged with around 1 ½" of packing material between your purchase and the box. All items are shipped insured. We never anticipate damage but in the event that an incident occurs, we will help with insurance claims as much as possible. Be very sure to save all packaging material if there is a problem. Normally, all shipping costs are based on actual price for estimated weight plus a minimal fee for packaging material and insurance. In rare instances there may be a flat rate shipping price quoted. Smaller items can be combined to save shipping costs. Because clocks require large boxes, Priority Mail is expensive. We quote FedEx prices in most cases. *For any shipments other than the lower 48 United States, contact us first for a shipping quote before bidding. Do not go by the shipping calculator.* Terms of Sale All sales are final (with the exception noted below). We try to keep an excellent feedback rating by being fair and honest. We try to describe all items accurately so that you pretty much know exactly what to expect when your purchase arrives. It should be understood before bidding that all antique clocks, unless otherwise noted, have nicks, scratches, tarnished brass, stains and dents which are normally acquired from long term honest use. It is nearly impossible to find one in "mint" condition. If a clock has damage from misuse, it will be noted. If a clock is sold as "in running condition," it means that we have test run it before listing it and feel confident that it will run for you. If a clock is running properly when it arrives, that is about the best we can do. We cannot guarantee that a clock will not break down, but will not sell anything that we expect to break down without noting that it is being sold as parts or for restoration. In the event that you are not happy, please first go back and read the description to make sure that the item was not misrepresented, and then email us. If we missed seeing some hidden damage, we will refund your money, both purchase price and shipping both ways. *This does NOT include items sold as parts, not working or "as is." All sales for this type of item are final.* About Us My daughter and I are collectors/restorers and have been working together selling online since 2005. We spend quite a bit of time traveling around the northeast buying clocks and clock parts, and many times we are able to buy large quantities from clock makers or clock dealers who are downsizing or closing out altogether. I have been a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors since 1978 and restoring clocks since 1976, so you can buy from us with confidence. Contact Us You may notice that since joining eBay in 2000 our feedback has been positive. We only receive feedback about a third of the time, which means we have actually had several thousand positive transactions over the past 20 years that are not recorded in the feedback system. We would prefer not to deal with anyone who might consider leaving us a negative feedback. We try to describe everything exactly as it is and if we do something wrong, we will make it right. That being said, rather than give us a bad feedback, first give us a chance to return your money. If you email us on Saturday, it may not be until Monday before you hear back from us. We do not use our computers on Sunday, the Lord's day, but will answer any emails Monday through Saturday and do whatever we can to resolve any problems. Please do not wait until late in an auction to ask questions (we may not be here). *Also, please do not ask us to falsify shipping records for international shipping. Honesty is always the best policy.* Get images that make Supersized seem small.Showcase your items with Auctiva's Listing Templates! The complete eBay Selling Solution.
