Description: Antique signal cannon off of a ship. Circa 1800's to early 1900's Made of iron and fairly heavy. It is in excellent condition and safe to shoot. Barrel is 17 and 1/4 inches long. Bore is just shy of 1 inch. Barrel is 2 inches in diameter. It is 5.5 inches across trunnions. Early signal cannons were made for ships alerting they were coming into port. Many of these early guns were intended for that sole purpose and cast with the bore only half way down stopping at the trunnions and the touch hole midway up where the bore stopped. This was so the barrel wasn't overloaded and gunpowder wasn't wasted as it was intended to just make a load boom and not fire projectiles although it could if need be. Would be great for a yacht or build a carriage for Fourth of July and New years! I have fired it years ago and it is very loud. Touch hole and bore are clear and not obstructed.
