Bibelot is a late nineteenth century word derived from the French word bel ‘beautiful’, meaning a small item of beauty, curiosity or interest. The word ephemera is derived from the sixteenth century Greek word ephmera meaning a printed or hand written paper not meant to be retained for a long period of time. Fine antique signed letter from Queen Alexandrine of Denmark nee Duchess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1879-1952), dated 20th November 1933, typed with handwritten annotations on her personal stationery embossed with her coat of arms, addressed to her long time friend Mrs Mary Winslow whom she was friendly with in the 1880s in Cannes.
