The base, adorned with a serpent design that serves as a striker, opens via a hinge to reveal a compartment for storing matches. Although unmarked, the metal has been tested and is silvered. Dimensions: Period: Late 19th - early 20th century. Height: 8 cmGood overall condition. The hinge works well. There is a small, barely noticeable dent on the back of one shoulder (see photos).
