Description: Antique Single Fusee Ormolu Boulle Style Clock By Cousens & Whiteside Berkeley. This lovely antique mantel clock has an hour glass shape typical of boulle style clocks. The case then has a lovely light brown felt finish to the front and sides as well as having an array of ormolu mounts scrolling mounts including a dragon to the front and lovely gargoyle style feet. There is also a beautiful gilt bronze cherub finial to the top. Finally the back of the case is veneered with a lovely boxwood finish. The dial is then shaped, gilt brass with lovely enamel panels marking the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals. There is then a further large disk to the centre signed by the maker “COUSENS & WHITESIDE 20 DAVIES ST BERKELEY SQR,E”. The dial is then finished by two lovely shaped hands as well as a domed and bevelled glass set into a brass bezel. Please note that the centre enamel disk is damaged although i’m sure this could be repaired. The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It is a single fusee example of the upmost quality and ticks away as it should. The movement also comes complete with its regulating pendulum and winding key. It measures approximately: - 24” / 61cm Tall. - 12.25” / 31cm Wide. - 6” / 15cm Deep.
