Description: Antique Solid Brass Hand Tooled Embossed/Sculpted Humidor with Liner and Basket This is a wonderful Antique Solid Brass Hand Tooled Embossed/Sculpted Humidor with a Tin Liner Box and Holding Basket. The box is exquisitely embossed with the double Eagle insignia of Russia's Imperial Romanov family and the double lions of the British Empire, circa 1907. It stands on sculpted lion's paw feet and has sculpted lion head handles on each side. There is a removable tin liner that fits snugly into the box. A solid brass, hinged, pull down basket is attached to the upper lid. This was used for storing a moisturizing component such as a sponge or clay to keep the contents in the box from drying up, usually cigars, documents or artifacts. Boxes like this were manufactured in the early 20th century in England. The box measures approximately 6.5" high by 10.5" wide by 5.5" in depth. The box is in great antique condition with wear consistent with its age, mostly oxidation on the interior basket. The box's exterior and most of the interior is in excellent condition with no dents, dings or missing parts and has retained most of its shiny brass patina. This is a unique work of art from another place and time that is only written and thought about.
