Antique Sterling Silver Lidded Cut Crystal Box

Description: Edwardian Sterling Silver Lidded Crystal Box Click image to enlarge Description This good-sized dressing table box has a sterling silver pull-off lid and a heavy cut crystal body. It is of lozenge form and the lid is decorated with ladies’ and cherubs’ faces among clouds, and the interior is gilded. The box is cut in the Hobnail pattern in drapes to the upper section, the base has flared edges and is Star-cut. The lid is hallmarked for Birmingham 1907 with the maker’s mark of Deakin & Francis. This box is in good condition for its age and the lid fits nice and snugly but there are some issues to report concerning the silver. After 116 years of polishing, the decorative detail is visible but there is some surface wear to it some tiny holes worn through the silver – please see the photos. At one end the silver is very slightly downturned but it’s not very noticeable. The glass is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. All aspects are shown in the photos and reflected in the asking price for what is still a beautiful Edwardian piece.
