Description: Antique "Three Graces" by Canova Statuette Signed G. Ruggeri Italy circa 1920's. Gino Ruggeri was one of the most famous sculptors in Italy. This statue is a reproduction of Antonio Canova's famous sculptor "Three Graces" Ruggeri worked for Tito Bianchi for many years in Tuscany creating religious and classical statues in the 1920's and 1930's . This piece is one of them. You can see his signing of the figures base edge and it is marked made in Italy on the bottom. This statue is the result of Ruggeri developing a way to mix alabaster with resin while working for Tito Bianchi to make a more durable and waterproof medium. Height is 9 1/2 inches and the base is 6 1/2 inches by 3 inches. Daughters of Zeus Will need a good cleaning. Sold is as found. Looks like it might have a tiny chip or flaw.
