Description: Quarter-plate c.1860 tintype in thermoplastic case, outdoor photo of a large group of children and some adults, presumably a teacher, maybe her assistants, and young students. Several onlookers can be seen peeking over the white picket fence, and some buildings can be sort of made out in the background. Most of the children seem to be wearing hats and bonnets, and at least one girl is holding a doll. The grass and trees are tinted green. Tintype is behind mat and glass in a dark brown case that is 5" x 4" when closed. Both tintype and case are in very good to excellent condition. The case doesn't click but the hardware doesn't look missing or damaged, just a little misaligned. I can't tell whether or not that black line in the trees is a scratch or not, but it does not detract in person.
