Description: Here we have a wonderful antique Victorian Rosewood Vanity Box which has been nicely inlaid with fine stringing which is either pewter or silver (I'm am unsure which). The top has also been inlaid with a lovely shaped plaque of Mother of Pearl. To the front is a lock which is complete with it's key and which works. Then to the side there is a secret drawer which again has a lock but there is NO key.The lid lifts to reveal three lidded compartments, red velvet storage areas and five bottles / jars, two of which have glass lids which the other have silver plated lids. The front section is a tray which lifts out to give access to a compartment below.Inside the lid is tooled red leather which after releasing a catch drops down to access a further storage area for letters. The approximate maximum dimension are : 11 inches / 28 cm wide x 8 inches / 20 cm deep x 6.5 inches / 16.5 cm high. The box is in nice condition as can be seen from the photographs just minor knocks / marks commensurate with age. There a little wear to the velvet, leather and silver plated lids commensurate with age, again please view photographs. There is a key to the front lock but no key for the side drawer lock. Please study photographs carefully as they form part of the description and condition, as what you view is exactly what you will receive. Ref: vanity box 08
