Antique Westminster Gothic Style LARGE Table Clock by Vincenti & Cie; C 1880s

Description: Highest quality Vincenti & Cie (surface mounted seal contained on backside of movement) solid brass plate quarter strike 8-day wind three train suspension spring Westminster movement is in unrestored fantastic condition; 7” diameter silvered chapter ring with incised black colored French Gothic stylized Roman numerals (center portion is of mahogany wood), surrounded by a narrow brass trim ring; exceptional solid mahogany wood case executed in the Gothic style includes pewter finished decorative metal throughout; Flur de lys motifs repeated in every decorative detail including the colored stained glass side panels; arched metal panel above clock face contains the translation, “I SOUND THE CORRECT TIME”; decorative reliefs mounted above & below the dial; pointed Gothic arches above & below the clock case with large decorative cast bell mounted on top; hour & minute hands are ornately designed in the French Gothic style & finished in brass color; 4 individual chime hammers play the Westminster melody onto a set of steel gongs with 1 larger chime hammer to sound the hours onto a larger steel coil gong; gongs are mounted to cast brass sound sink located within the clock case which reflects the substantial chime melody; adjustable brass pendulum weight; both movement & chime assemblies are mounted securely to case. Winding key included. Masterfully made solid mahogany clock case; solid wood framed rear door has a 2 brass latches located on the left side & is hinged on the right side; all wood trim fitted properly & securely fastened to case (minor veneer warp on top section of case). I am an antique clock collector wishing to reduce my clock collection. This clock comes from my collection & has been running successfully for several years with no difficulties. It has been tested prior to this offering. Clock set-up to establish the correct “beat” is paramount to the clock’s operation, accomplished through placement & leveling. Additionally, temperature & humidity may affect it over time as well. Do not over wind the clock. Lastly, I cannot not guarantee the clock’s operation once shipped. I do take pride as a seller and buyer of these clocks. All shipments will be carefully wrapped in bubble wrap (key & pendulum wrapped separately) set tightly into box containing Styrofoam peanuts, tapped shut & then placed into second box (as may be necessary) filled with padding for added protection, taped shut on all sides.
