This listing is for a vintage Armstrong "Artist" model alto saxophone mouthpiece. This is exactly the same as the Couf branded "Artist" model. Herbert Couf was at one point the president of Armstrong, so there is a natural connection there. The "Artist" model is a top of the line mouthpiece made of hard rubber, not plastic. This one has a 5* facing. The actual tip opening measures .078". For reference, that is equal to a Selmer "E". That is the ideal spot for a lot of players. As far as the internals, the inner side walls are deeply scooped, and it has a medium round chamber. This is a streamline style, slim body piece. Thus, it requires a smaller ligature. This mouthpiece is in excellent, lightly used condition. The facing is perfectly smooth, and original. There are no tooth indentations on the beak. The rubber is still black and shiny, and the logo/markings are clear. There is barely a scratch on the exterior. This piece has been cleaned/sanitized.
