NUMBER OF ITEMS OFFERED? 1 GENERAL COMMENTS: This wonderful little soft cover book is an example of what happens when an artist decides to write a book with a political purpose. White Collar was republished in 1975 from the original 1938. It is told fully in images of linocut (which is where an artist makes an image by cutting marks in linoleum then inks the linoleum and transfers the image to paper), the images are mainly black and white but a few orange toned. This is a softcover book, 127 pages with no damage. However, there is toning throughout. Giacomo Patri (1898-1978), was based in San Francisco, he taught at the California Labor School following World War II. Due to its pro-labor agenda, the school was closed in the 1950s under the pressures of McCarthyism. In 1938, after three years of work, Patri produced the wordless novel White Collar using linocut printing. It chronicled the aftermath of the 1929 stock market crash, and was intended to motivate white-collar workers to unionize.
