In 1891, the magazine moved toPariswhere it rivaled theMercure de France, hence its name, which served to mark the difference with theMercure's purple cover. During the early years the magazine was associated withMarcel Proust. Thaddeus's wife, Misia, participated in the launch of the magazine and served as a model for some covers.
