ART THEATRE GUILD #8 magazine Alexander Nevsky, Sergei M. Eisenstein ATG

Description: Up for auction is an original cinema pamphlet from Japan's legendary Art Theatre Guild (ATG) collective. ATG #8 Alexander Nevsky, directed by Sergei M. Eisenstein Japan's Art Theatre Guild (ATG) was instrumental in promoting independent and experimental cinema from the 1960s through the 1980s. One unique aspect of their approach was the creation of cinema pamphlets, which were distributed during film screenings. These pamphlets were not just simple movie programs but works of art in themselves, often featuring striking graphic design, essays, interviews, and detailed information about the film, its themes, and its creators. They have been featured in Columbia and Harvard University collections and exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art. Condition: All ATG pamphlets I am selling are original and, as such, quite old. I have included photos of the front, back, and table of contents for all items and any significant defects, if applicable. Unless noted below, they include all original pages and are free from rips, tears, seam splitting, water damage, or substantial defacements. In infrequent cases, they may have dog-eared corners, margin notes, or Japanese price tags. The newsprint on many of the earliest volumes shows discoloration reflective of their age. I am the original US owner of these items. For as long as I have owned them, they have been stored in archival-grade, acid-free polybags in a climate-controlled area of my house. However, they lived a long life in Japan before arriving in my possession. If you have questions about a specific volume, please ask BEFORE purchasing. Special notes on condition: None Shipping: All pamplets will ship flat in an acid-free polybag with strong cardboard protection to ensure they are not bent or folded. All orders will ship via Media Mail and shipping can be combined for multiple item purchases.
