Description: Incredibly rare turn of the century Mailbox made by Arthur Burnham, the only example we have seen is advertisements from the Postal Museum. You will be the only one around with this one! Great Postal Museum item. Original working condition with lots of patina and personality. This mailbox has such a great shape and look. The flag goes up well and when the box opens the flag is made to spring closed. Measures approx 19'' x 10 1/2'' and sits 9'' tall. Arthur M. Burnham of Maine received a patent in 1902 for his design of a rural mailbox. The mailboxes were sold through the Burnham Manufacturing Company of Washington, DC, as well as independent agents. Could be painted or left as is for a cool look! Notice the photographs and all of the personality / character!
