Arthur Stannard Vernal (1877-1960) was an English-born American art and antiques dealer, naturalist, explorer, and big game hunter, arriving in the U.S. in 1904. In 1906 he opened his first store in New York City, specializing in English furniture and art, and also offering restoration and interior design services, and more; later branches of the store included London, Boston, and Newport, Rhode Island. As soon as his business was strong enough to be carried by experienced staff, he began traveling and exploring globally, which included collecting biological specimens and cultural artifacts for the American Museum of Natural History. When retiring from business in 1940, he moved to the Bahamas, built a greenhouse for the cultivation of orchids, and still continued to travel the world. Condition of the catalog: original staples intact, and everything still well attached; pages are clean, no marks, no tears, slight discoloration; some external wear, but not bad. Careful wrapping and fast shipping. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
