Handmade with intricate details, the body is carved with flying fox feet, spirit hands, ears, scarification motifs in high relief and the handle is carved with designs of 'was' – cuscus tails - open clearing. No skin, with traces of charcoal/soot. This piece is a must-have for any collector of Pacific Island culture. The drum is made from a single piece of wood and features a hourglass shape, making it a standout item in any collection. The provenance of this piece is from a private collection and it was made in Papua New Guinea. It has not been modified and is in its original state.
