Description: Offered is the antique newspaper-style magazine "Harper's Weekly", published in New York. This is the Saturday, August 21, 1897 issue, Vol. XLI, No. 2122. The cover features a nearly full-page illustration of Thomas Jefferson reading the rough draft of a bicycle race. The magazine contains both the news of the day and articles of fiction. There are many photos and illustrations-highlights include photos of the French President at home (see photo # ) and many photos of Siberian scenes and people accompanying the article "By Sledge and Rail Across Siberia". Also of interest are numerous bicycle-racing photos of the meet of the League of American Wheelmen in Philadelphia. There are numerous ads for period items, most with illustrations. The magazine is approx. 16" x 11 3/8" and contains 24 pages, including the cover, consecutively numbered from one issue to the next. It is in fair condition for its age. I see no missing pages but there are a few small pieces missing from the back page, although I don't think any appreciable amount of text is missing. There are also numerous tears in the other pages. The paper has yellowed and the back page is soiled but all of the text is readable. Please take a moment to look at the other items in my eBay store!
