Description: 96 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Jugendstil Secessionist DRESSLER vase footed marked Austria embossed 1283 The impressive heavy vase is large in the shape of an almost alien egg sitting on 4 beefy legs (all one piece ) with a drapery around the rim and stylized tree medallions on the sides of base , well done and a nice shade of green . This footed vase is the Art Nouveau style, also known as "Jugendstil" or "Secessionist" ware. Colors on this vase are muted grey blue with bold apple green accents. Signed with numbers and Austria Size: 11 1/2" tall and 7 1/2" at widest( Cat #21) The mark on the base of this vase is embossed "Austria" and with embossed model numbers "1283" Great glaze and form. Maker: Julius Dressler I was not certain of the designer . At first thought it was very similar to works designed by Paul Dachsel, for the Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel Amphora, Turn-Teplitz and had such unique contemporary decor. Then an Amphora collector contacted me and explained why it was in fact their of Julius Dresser.From research Julius Dressler , the artistic Bohemian artist, had a ceramics manufacturing company that operated from the late 19th century until the end of World War II. Founded by Julius Dressler in the 1880s in Biela, Bohemia, the company produced high-quality decorative faience, majolica, and porcelain ware. Dressler gained international renown for the ceramics it produced in the early 1900s in the Amphora and Art Nouveau style, also known as " Jugendstil " or " Secessionist " ware. Condition Very good condition with one minor flea bite on the bottom of one foot and almost invisable as the vase sitsProvenanceIt was purchased from a porcelain dealer about ten years ago for my Amphora collection.
