Description: This is an Autographed Gertie Dunn RARE Vintage REPRINT Sideboard poster REPRINT of the AAGPBL era of play in 1950's. Shortstop, Gertie Dunn is pictured inthe center, in full uniform and ready to scoop up the ball from her Shortstop position. Gertie Dunn Authentically Autographed this Vintage Reprint. Gertie sold these sideboard posters that she reproduced herself, in order to raise money to help with her many efforts in promoting Women in Sports. Gertie, a scrappy and skilled athlete was contracted by the League at age 15 in the 1950s and was one of the youngest athletes ever to excell and play at the elite AAGPBL level of play. Gertie Dunn was also an accomplished lacrosse player who played internationally. Gertie was a dedicated champion promoter and advocate for the Sport of Women's Lacrosse. This Poster was sold to us by Gertie, herself, whom we met while attending the AAGPBL Players Reunion held in Cooperstown, N.Y. in 1998. The AAGPBL Players gathered in 1998 at Cooperstown N.Y. to celebrate the 10 year Anniversary of the League being Officially Recognized by Major League Baseball with a display at the H.O.F. in 1988. Gertie Dunn Authentically Autographed this vintage poster. Her autograph is extremely RARE and hard to find. Gertie, a multi talented athlete was also a licensed pilot who owned her own plane. Unfortunately, we lost Gertie later that year when her plane crashed. Enjoy this as an amazing addition to your collection of Baseball History. Will be shipped in a protective tube.
